The Endless Surf team has built a shop for riders, fans, and those who intend to become riders. Key to our mission is not just to provide our customers with the right price, but also with a level of service unprecedented in this industry. We see every customer as an honorary member of the Endless Surf Pro Rider Team, a team that is steeped in the principles of boardsport culture upon which this surf shop has been founded; community, camaraderie, innovation, and style. That's why, in addition to our household national brand names, Team Endless Surf prides themselves on also showcasing a variety of smaller homegrown products from countries spread across the globe. Our handpicked brands are friends to our team, manufactured under socially just working conditions, and are truly helping to foster the development of the young riders of today. Below, you can learn more about the team behind this philosophy by clicking on each team member's name. We'll see you in Grand Bend!
Meet Andy Oke!
I am fortunate to have been born and raised on the shores of beautiful Lake Huron in the village of Grand Bend, Ontario, the birthplace of Endless Surf.
I started wakeboarding at an early age with my brothers and cousins. I watched the pros at Wakestock, which was held in Bala back in those days, and I kept challenging myself with a more advanced bag of tricks. In May 2008, I felt the pain of trying to go too big when I injured my knee in an epic wipe out. This injury put a halt to my wakeboarding for the season. I could not stay away from the sport so I started to give lessons that summer. That was probably one of the things that opened my eyes to an untapped group of riders in the Grand Bend area just waiting to get out there and shred.
I was introduced to surfing on a family holiday in Costa Rica. I caught on quickly and spent two weeks with my brothers hitting different breaks up and down the coast. That led to a surfing trip with my brothers and friends to Mexico and another one a couple years later to Australia, where I spent three months surfing with my friend and business partner Gill. In between these trips, I was surfing the Canadian shores of Lake Huron, an area with great surf of which most people are not aware. Granted, it may be snowing during some of our best sessions, but for Great Lakes Surfers, that just ads to the excitement. It is this excitement and enthusiasm that I bring to the shop, a shop that prides itself on the promotion of surfing the Great Lakes. From Kettle Point to Kincardine and Huron to Superior, there is a large collection of surfers that have been waiting for a shop that to truly advocate the sport. That shop is Endless Surf.
Kiteboarding (kitesurfing) is a new sport for me with only a few years under my belt. I was looking for a sport that would work on the lake when it was too rough to wakeboard but not wavy enough to surf and kiting filled that niche. The local kiting crew showed me the ropes (or lines) and I was hooked!
Endless Surf is now my temple where I can continue to grow as a wakeboarder, surfer, and kiteboarder and also help introduce newcomers to these sports on a daily basis. I'll see you in the shop!
Meet Gillian Brunelle!
I have been loving life since 1986. Born and raised in a Canadian small town, I was anxious at a young age to get out and explore the world, a world so big all of which I wanted to see! I have lived in Switzerland, France and Australia. I chased swell to different breaks including Coolangatta, Biarritz, and Cabo San Lucas. I've ridden the powder of the Alps, Zermatt, Saas Fee, Gstaad, Verbier and Les Diablerets to the west coast of Canada at Whistler/Blackcomb and Lake Louise/Sunshine. Finally, I would return to my home in Grand Bend each year on the shores of Lake Huron. There is no place like home. I love being on a board from the tamest sunset paddle to the biggest, cleanest wave we've ever seen on Lake Huron. The thrill is always there. It’s just me, my board, and nature; unpredictable. In life, I have learned to be patient. When I’m not on a board and not in the shop, you'll likely find me practicing yoga. I am a certified instructor and am currently teaching classes in my spare time. I completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Retail at the University of Ryerson with the intention to one day open up a retail shop. Naturally, I combined the skills I acquired at Ryerson with my passion for boardsports and the result is Endless Surf. I'll see you at the shop!
Meet JP White!
Hailing from London, ON, I guess the first thing I should say about myself is that I believe that life is wicked. I try to live each moment to its fullest potential every day, even those days when the hangover won't let me out of bed. I love being outdoors whether it’s hiking a forest, surfing the Ocean/Great Lakes, or flying down a mountain on my snowboard. There is one thing that can keep me indoors - hockey - but even that sport has me outside often on outdoor rinks and ponds. Even more passionate than my love of the outdoors is my attachment to the beach. As far back as I can remember, I have spent my summers living on the shores of Lake Huron, either as a young kid in Bayfield or as a Lifeguard for the Grand Bend Beach Patrol for 11 years. As soon as I finished my Geography degree at the University of Western Ontario, I decided it was time to start traveling all over this place we live in. Just to name a few spots, I've visited Thailand, Australia, Hong Kong, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and most of the Southeastern Coastal United States. In recent years, I have spent my winters on Canada's West coast tearing up our mountains, living in both Canmore, Alberta and Revelstoke, British Columbia. I believe that my traveling has made me a better team member for Endless Surf as I have learned to interact with and understand people from a variety of cultures, particularly boardsport athletes. I'll see you at the shop!
Meet Dane!
Born in April 2002, Dane started snowboarding and doing what he calls "Sunboarding" (watching us ride at the beach and floating around on our boards in the waves) at the age of 2. By the time he was 4 years old, he was flying 5 meter kites and catching waves on longboards. Eventually, his love for watersports progressed into wakeboarding and wakeskating. He's competed and done well at Wakestock 2011, the 2011 Canadian Wakeboarding Nationals in Peterborough, and Wake-Up Call 2011 at the Sarnia Boarderpass Cable Park. He's totally stoked to return to every event next year (and then some) with a little more experience and a few new tricks up his sleeve. Other boardsports in which Dane participates include skimboarding, skateboarding, and rip-sticking. He has sunboarded and crashed waves in Antigua and Aruba and snowboarded all over Ontario and Quebec. He's presently going to school in Grand Bend and is in grade 4. When not on the water, Dane enjoys playing electric and acoustic guitar and singing. And ladies, he's single!
